6th graders have completed weaving their newspaper baskets. This is my first time with the project but I think I will keep it in my books for next year. There were some definite challenges at the beginning but once students got the hang of it, it was very successful!
The art teachers of ISD623 welcome you to take a glimpse into their classrooms.

3rd Grade Wayne Thiebaud Inspired Art
Looking at pictures of sweets inspired our third graders to create Wayne Thiebaud ice cream cones and cakes. We studied how tints and shades are made by adding white and black to a color.
We continued our studies and talked about shape and form. We drew a cylinder that we turned into a cake. We pretended that someone ate a slice of cake and here is what our beautiful and delicious results looked like! I have to say I am really impressed with these 3rd graders!

Drawing with Line, Form, and Value
So I don't know if I will be a youtube sensation but I had fun editing and putting these tutorials together. My students stroked my ego and after showing them their lesson through youtube, they all wanted to subscribe to my channel and like my videos. These simple drawing projects helped my students practice their skills with line, shape, form, and value!
